About this Opportunity

Education Volunteers interact with Zoo guests to help share our mission and vision of saving wildlife and their habitats. If you have a passion for conservation, biology, or environmental science, this is the volunteer opportunity for you!

Education Volunteers work directly with the Education Department at Zoo Atlanta, supporting programs such as: Giraffe Feeding Assistance, Zoo Seekers, Zoo Exploration Days/Education Events, Pop-up Activities, Administrative Support, and Habitat Interpretation. This is a great way to meet new people, have fun and help educate others about topics that are important to you.

Education Volunteers work directly with the Education Department at Zoo Atlanta, supporting programs such as:

  • Giraffe Feeding Assistance: assist at the exit gate of the feeding area and answer guest questions about the experience.
  • Zoo Seekers: facilitate the check-out and return of exploration packs that guests use to participate in this self-guided program.
  • Zoo Exploration Days/Education Events: facilitate activities focused on a themed event day that highlights different aspects of - Zoo Atlanta’s mission (i.e. conservation, research, animal care, education/engaging experiences).
  • Pop-up Activities: facilitate quick and simple activities with small groups of guests. These activities are not on the map and require little prior Zoo knowledge to facilitate.
  • Administrative Support: assist the Public Programs Team with administrative tasks such as data entry, scanning documents, and preparing materials for programs and events.
  • Habitat Interpretation: answer questions from guests and share biological and conservation information on the animals. Informational materials will be provided for Volunteers. This is a great way to meet new people, have fun and help educate others about topics that are important to you.
